Parachuting:

1. All parachutists must receive a DZ orientation brief given by an Instructor/DZ controller before parachuting at SHS. This must include the location of the landing areas and position of hazards.

2. All licensed parachutists are to read the Safety Information notice boards which are located in the packing area.

3. Parachutists are discouraged from landing in areas outside their skill levels in canopy control ie in areas that leave little overshoot/undershoot options.

4 All licensed parachutists should ensure that they and all fellow jumpers, including camera flyers, are competent to carry out the planned exercises and also that it is their responsibility to be aware of other parachutists in the air.

5. Parachute packing must only be carried out or supervised, by persons qualified to do so.

6. Instructors are responsible for maintaining their individual BS Operations Manuals up to date and familiarising themselves with BS’s and manufacturers’ Safety Notices/Bulletins located in the packing area.

7. No parachutist is to attempt any parachuting activity that is beyond their limitations or experience without receiving training or a briefing for the planned exercise.

8. Parachutists are to follow a left hand circuit pattern during the landing pattern (unless doing so would result in a hazardous landing situation).

9. Immediately after landing, parachutists are to check for in-coming parachutists in order to avoid being struck by parachutists who are about to land.

10. All parachutists must have been briefed as to the emergency crash procedures and brace position relevant to their seating positions in the aircraft. These are listed on both the notice board and inside both aircraft.

11. Parachutists are reminded of the possible consequences of radical turns too close to the ground.

12. All parachutists are reminded of the importance of concentrating on their landings and not become distracted by peripheral actions.

13. All parachutists are reminded that if they are unable immediately to rectify a problem at, during or after deployment then they should initiate their reserve procedures.

14. AAD’s must be fitted to parachute equipment and switched on and checked before every descent.

15. Jumpmasters are to ensure that all jumpers are checked and signed for on the manifest sheet and all parachute equipment must have a valid equipment tag, except club equipment.

16. All jumpers are responsible for their own personal equipment, training and documentation and must insure that it is in date in accordance with BS Ops manual and SHS SOP’s before undertaking any parachuting descent.
